Strategic Procurement Specialist (f/m), Ref. ESML

In this role you will be reporting to the Head of Strategic Procurement, Engine Leasing & Licensing. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to Strategic Procurement and in particular the Used Serviceable Material (USM) business.

Your tasks:

  • Recommend the most appropriate and efficient method for formation of strategic sourcing initiatives/agreements for Engine Services with special focus on USM


  • Negotiate strategic sourcing agreements and any changes in vendor contracts in accordance with compliances, policies, rules and regulations


  • Negotiate with vendors/contractors to obtain maximum benefit to Engine Services from contracts, incl. engine teardown agreements


  • Decide if recurring purchases are appropriate for strategic sourcing agreement/initiatives


  • Decide if proposed contract changes and modifications are reasonable and in the best interest of Engine Services as well as compliant and according to policies, rules and regulations


  • Apply negotiation skills to resolve contractual supplier and vendor disputes with an acceptable outcome for the parties per compliance, policies, rules and regulations


  • Decide appropriate resolution to problems that may arise during the strategic sourcing contracting processes by mediating disputes between Engine Services and the vendor/contractor


  • Develop and maintains awareness of changing business trends in the USM marketplace and the possible impact to Engine Services


  • Develop and composes bids specification in such a manner that Engine Services' needs are addressed


  • Defend and/or justify an award of a formal bid or proposal in the event of a formal protest filed by a vendor/contractor with support of Senior Management of Engine Services


  • Analyze bid responses to determine the most responsive and responsible bidder to optimize total cost for Engine Services


  • Analyze spend data/trends to identify and develop overall USM strategic sourcing initiatives which meet the needs of Engine Services and recommend agreement formation based on research of spend, end-user impact, feedback and activity along with marketplace analysis


  • Recommend and justify strategic sourcing initiatives by using data mining tools to conduct spend analysis, prepare supporting reports/spreadsheets, comparisons with focus on USM


  • Assist in the development of internal policies and tools necessary to implement strategic sourcing initiatives and assists in prioritizing strategic sourcing initiatives


  • Work collaboratively with the Operational Procurement in the development and formation of strategic sourcing agreements


  • Valuate engines given their condition and material content for Engine Services as well as for customers


  • Apply economic methods and lean processes for the improvement and simplification of procurement activities


  • Lead the USM project and support others within the department as well as the Engine Services organization  

Your profile:

  • A higher procurement or trading related education


  • Work experience within the aviation industry, parts trading is a plus


  • Experience in commercial jet engine valuation


  • Advanced user of MS Office especially with Excel (functions, pivot)


  • Working knowledge of SAP appreciated


  • Proficient in English (written & spoken), German skills are highly desired


  • Accurate and structured working style


  • Motivated, self-driven and reliable team player


  • Task delivery against set deadlines (prioritization and working time elasticity)


  • Effective working relations building text
