Traineeships in the Detention Unit - Two positions
The Detention Unit is part of the Protection Division in the Operations Department of the International Committee of the Red Cross. The Unit aims to define the ICRC policy on detention and to provide support to staff members working in the field and at Headquarters on behalf of people deprived of their liberty. Issues covered by the Unit's work include: ICRC detention methodology, detention-related law and policy, detention management, judicial guarantees, torture and ill treatment, immigration detention, women and children, health, reform and change processes.
The Detention Unit is offering two one-year paid traineeships. The post holders will work within a team on a range of detention-related themes. There are eight team members, including two traineeship positions.Responsibilities and Tasks

The post holders will manage a stock of internal and external resources on detention and provide ad-hoc administrative and logistical support to other members of the Unit.

What we offer
The post is office based and does not involve travel.
Duration: 1 year, full time
Starting date: One position will start on 15th February, the other on 24th April 2017(please specify availability and preference in the cover letter)
