The Nestlé Research Center (NRC) located near Lausanne, Switzerland is one of the leading research laboratories in food and nutritional sciences. With over 500 colleagues from over 40 nationalities, NRC has a strong position in the international scientific community supported further by more than 200 external scientific partnerships, multiple University collaborations and more than 100 scientific publications each year. Nestlé Research Center conducts up to 60 clinical trials in the areas of healthy nutrition, medical nutrition, metabolic disease, gastro-intestinal health amongst others. To complete our Nutrition and Health Research Department at our Nestlé Research Center in Vers-chez-les-Blanc (Switzerland) we are currently looking for a Senior Scientist in Human Microbiome.
As a MicrobiomeSpecialist, your main responsibilities will be to steer and manage research activities in the microbiota field and to analyse and interprete microbiota omics datasets. You will have to identify new venues of research linking the microbiome to health and nutrition, in order to support business strategies.
Key responsibilities
  • Stay at the forefront of the rapidly evolving microbiota research field, and identify microbiota questions embedding an integrative view of the gut ecosystem
  • Develop a mid-long term strategy for projects within the gut ecosystem research unit, andpropose  nutritional concepts able to promote health via the human-associated microbiota
  • Provide scientific support to business-related activities, engage and collaborate with stakeholders internally and externally
  • Develop and lead projects and deliver results in research activities in a timely and reliable fashion
  • Coach younger scientists and technicians
Education and experience
  • PhD with proven scientific expertise in the microbiota field, including knowledge in human microbial ecology.
  • At least 3 year experience in Research and Development in a related field
  • Experience in microbiota analysis, biological interpretation and data integration
  • Bioinformatics scripting skills will be considered a strong advantage
  • Ability to steer and manage research projects and to lead teams on a project basis
  • Fluent in English, French would be an asset
