To lead our Product Guidance Insight team (PGI) in R&D, we are actively looking for an experienced PGI Manager that in conjunction with Consumer Insights (CI) will work closely with R&D and Marketing teams to deliver remarkable products that will drive growth.
We are looking for an inspirational and “hands-on” PGI team leader that will grow PGI capabilities and talent and build strong strategic partnership with CI and business teams. The person will help ensure product superiority for new and existing products by delivering meaningful and actionable Product Consumer Insights, championing the consumer first design approach and continuing to build and evolve PGI tools and capabilities. In addition, the PGI leader will work closely with Operations to drive improvements in everyday product quality.
Key responsibilities
  • Strategically partner with CI Director and R&D Regional business leaders to align project priorities, business needs and approach.
  • Manage PGI testing budget in order to actively partner with Global & Regional team in R&D, CI, Marketing and Operations to develop new products and improve existing ones whilst directly leading some key NPD & Renovation projects
  • Lead sensory and shelf life capabilities to design and define what matters to consumers and can be consistently measured and manufactured on factory floor
  • Lead PGI team to independently consult, design and manage the appropriate descriptive, discrimination, shelf-life and consumer guidance testing to meet business needs and enhance product knowledge.
  • Ensure that team interpret test results with a view on project objectives and consumer expectations, providing insights and development recommendations aiming to promote Consumer First Design
  • Show strong leadership and coaching capabilities to build high performing talent with focus on strong Sensory, Quality Sensory, Product Guidance and Product Stability expertise
Education and experience
  • Minimum of M.S. degree in Sensory, Food Science or related field. Business qualifications are an advantage
  • 5-10 years sensory & Consumer testing experience in a FMCG or fast-paced environment with R&D environment exposure
  • 5-10 years project management experience in an international, competitive and complex environment with a strong product-facing orientation
  • Proven track record in people leadership and management (building & leading effective teams), with a minimum of 2-3 direct reports
  • Background in Flavor Chemistry, Psychophysics, Marketing Research, Product Development, Stability Science or Statistics is beneficial
  • Ability to manage resources and leverage existing data to effectively lead multiple projects with a product-facing approach and capability to translate R&D projects into Business concepts.
  • Proven ability to apply sensory evaluation methods and interpret statistical analysis results of sensory evaluation data with a business-minded vision
  • Proven communication and strong coordination skills, dynamic and proactive mindset with an innovative spirit (team management included)
  • Fluent in English, other languages are a plus
