Research Scientist – Lead Synthetic Chemist F/M


Are you the type of organic chemist who thrives in the dynamic environment of medicinal chemistry research? Are you the type of scientist who loves exploratory synthetic organic chemistry? As a Lead Synthetic Chemist, you will assume a key role in the Chemistry Research group at the Sophia Antipolissite in Francewhere you will scientifically lead a team of synthetic chemists working on novel organic chemistry challenges to support our therapeutic programs.


Internally, you will also be expected to lead by example in terms of laboratory presence and standards, and bring forward suggestions and proposals for further technology, process and infrastructure improvements within the synthetic chemistry discipline and the lab environment. Externally, you will regularly engage in enhancing the business reputation through peer-review publications and presentations at conferences.


Essential requirements:

  • PhD in organic chemistry or equivalent and, preferably, at least 5 years of experience in a demanding high-throughput R&D setting
  • Excellent track record of innovative problem-solving orientated toward project delivery supported by a strong publication record
  • Passion for laboratory-based science and leadership from the front
  • Profound understanding of the application of organic chemistry to modern drug discovery
  • Excellent theoretical and practical knowledge in organic chemistry from route design to purification and analysis
  • Excellent time management and team-working skills
  • Awareness of modern synthetic methodology and technology to support project delivery
  • Excellent communications skills in English (good working knowledge in French is highly desirable)
  • Experience in leading and motivating chemistry personnel
