The Nestlé Product Technology Centre (NPTC) Beverage in Orbe is the leading Nestlé Coffee Beverage Competence Centre that develops products, production processes and packaging for in-home and out-of-home consumption (including systems). Our mission – to delight the consumer wherever, whenever, however by delivering moments of genuine pleasure and indulgence - drives the need for us to attract, select and develop the right people for the right jobs throughout the value chain of our business.


To complete our strategic Science & Technology, Nutrition, Strategic Unit team based in Orbe, we are currently looking for aR&D Specialist on Coffee taste Chemistry. Your main purpose will be to scout for new analytical technologies and implement best in class Food Chemistry analytics to enable in depth characterization of coffee based matrices leading to the molecular understanding of product attributes. You will support, with standardized analytical methods, the development and the industrialization of beverages products driving consumer preference.                                                                  


Key responsibilities


  • Develop and Execute Science & Technology Strategies in field of specialization/expertise

  • Build the knowledge and the expertise needed to link consumer preferences and manufacturing performance to product/process chemistry

  • Leveraging of external partners and novel suppliers to propose new ideas/activities/methods.

  • Delivering on the priorities in link with key sensory attributes.

  • Contribute and actively promote knowledge transfer within R&D community through participation to workshop.

  • Actively participate to internal networks and experts communities to leverage knowledge across product categories

  • Promote Nestlé research through active participation to scientific symposia and publications in peer reviewed journals

  • Develop new methods to bring further the molecular understanding of product attributes



Education and experience


  • PhD in Food Chemistry, Taste Chemistry, Biochemistry or equivalent

  • Minimum 7 years of R&D in a food company or a relevant academic experience

  • Knowledge on coffee bioactives/taste active compounds including formation pathways & molecular understanding.

  • Scientific and technical experience in advanced analytics used (liquid - chromatography – mass spectrometry).

  • Strong networking, ability to work in teams with transversal leadership qualities

  • Basic knowledge of quality, safety and hygiene requirements

  • Fluent in English

  • French will be a plus
