For the Microscopie and Magnetism Group we are looking for a
Ultrafast science in condensed matter (within NCCR MUST)
You will investigate the ultrafast dynamics of electronic, magnetic and structural properties in strongly correlated electron materials. A prerequisite for these studies, the detailed static properties of the materials have also to be determined. The goal is to understand the different basic interaction in solids, and how they determine the dynamical properties. Experiments to study the dynamics are based on ultrafast pump probe setups including the use of X-Rays as a probe. For this purpose you will perform pump-probe experiments, static and ultrafast (resonant)X-Ray scattering experiments at the Swiss Light Source (SLS) at the Paul Scherrer Institut (static and dynamic) and at X-Ray free electron laser sources, such as the LCLS (Stanford, USA) or SACLA (Japan) and the upcoming SwissFEL at PSI. These investigations will be in close collaboration with colleagues of other groups in and outside of PSI.
You have a PhD in physics and enjoy working in an interdisciplinary, internationally oriented environment. You want to understand physics of complex oxides on the atomic level and its ultrafast dynamics and you can easily integrate in a team. A good command of English is required.
