The Paul Scherrer Institute PSI is the largest research centre for natural and engineering sciences within Switzerland. We perform cutting-edge research in the fields of matter and materials, energy and environment and human health. By performing fundamental and applied research, we work on sustainable solutions for major challenges facing society, science and economy. PSI is committed to the training of future generations. Therefore about one quarter of our staff are post-docs, post-graduates or apprentices. Altogether PSI employs 1900 people.
The “X-Ray Tomography” Group at the Swiss Light Source (SLS) operates state-of-the-art microtomography facilities and conducts a broad research program in the fields of high resolution bio-imaging, phase contrast imaging, nanoimaging and ultrafast tomographic microscopy. The proposed project is carried out in close collaboration with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich (ETHZ) and the Centre d’ Imagerie Biomedicale (CIBM) at the EPFL.
Within this collaboration we are looking for a
Advanced synchrotron-based tomographic microscopy
- Development of new advanced methods (e.g. dynamical phase contrast) for synchrotron-based tomographic microscopy
- Integration, evaluation and validation on synchrotron beamlines
- Active contribution to the existing research program of the group and the beamline
You should have a PhD degree in physics, biomedical engineering or material science. Experience in X-Ray related imaging (either synchrotron or conventional systems) would be helpful. You should enjoy working in an interdisciplinary, multinational research environment. Being an enthusiastic researcher and a good team player will help to ensure your success in completing your post-doctoral research project in this exciting field of study.
Our institution is based on an interdisciplinary, innovative and dynamic collaboration. You will profit from a systematic training on the job, in addition to personal development possibilities and our pronounced vocational training culture. If you wish to optimally combine work and family life or other personal interests, we are able to support you with our modern employment conditions and the on-site infrastructure.
