The Thin Films & Interfaces Group, which is part of the Research with Neutrons and Muons Division, is working on the development, characterization, and processing of functional materials, often with photon-based methods, especially for renewable energy applications. One of the main topics is the deposition of thin functional oxide films by laser-based methods and spectroscopy during deposition. The aim of this SNF project is to deposit and characterize oxide thin films with multiple ferroic orders, which involves several research groups within the NUM division.

The practical work will mainly be carried out at PSI, but the PhD thesis will be officially acquired at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ).
