For the Battery Materials Group within the Electrochemical Energy Storage Section we are looking for a

PhD Student
Characterization of Li-ion batteries
Your tasks
  • Explore the electrochemical properties of full Li-ion cells based on 4V materials
  • Characterize the reaction mechanisms with operando and ex situ analytic methods such as X-Ray diffraction, X-Ray absorption, neutron diffraction, etc.
  • Advance the scientific understanding of full-cells
  • Publish results in scientific literature
Your profile
We are looking for a highly motivated student with interest in experimental work. You hold a master or a university diploma in chemistry, materials science, or in a related field. Experience in the domain of electrochemistry would be an asset. This position requires very good knowledge of English; good German skills is a benefit.

The experimental work will take place at the Paul Scherrer Institute in Villigen, the PhD degree will be awarded by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETHZ).
