The Breast Cancer/ Gynaecologic Malignancies GIMD/GISD assumes the Medical Affairs (MA) strategic lead for products/indications. He/she leads the Global Medical Affairs Team (GMAT) and drives the medical strategy development for the product and contributes to the strategy of the respective Disease Area. The GIMD/GISD provides strategic guidance to the International Medical/Scientific Directors (IMDs/ISDs). He/She may be a member of the Lifecycle team and/or Global Development Team. The role requires disease specific expertise and clear business understanding to identify and address the relevant medical needs in clinical practice, to successfully support the optimal knowledge of Roche/GNE products. The role reports to the  Disease Area Head.


In this position, based in Basel, you will:


  • Build deep understanding of the current and future direction of the assigned disease/ therapeutic area and products
  • Lead a cross-team collaboration and strategy development for the assigned products/indications, including working closely with the Scientific Communication Leaders assigned to the DA
  • Ensure development, delivery and maintenance of an aligned medical strategy and plan for the assigned products/indications
  • Be accountable that medical input is provided into the Annual Lifecycle Plan, Annual Brand Plan, Comparative Benefit Risk Assessment and other related plans, including relevant launch plans
  • Identify potential scientific interest for line extensions according to the understanding of actual and future practice in key countries
  • Ensure compliance of global medical activities, communications and information

    • You are a MD (  with clinical experience >5 years) or relevant PhD, preferably specialized in oncology or immunology.

    Additionally, you have:


    • Long and broad (preferably 5-7 years) professional experience within the pharmaceutical industry, in development and/or medical affairs function at a country/ regional and/or global level
    • Proven ability to lead teams based on past experience
    • Proven records of developed and implemented global Phase II – IV studies
    • Ability to establish and maintain leadership responsibilities in major scientific and advocacy organizations, and on national standard-setting bodies
    • Existing network with external constituents (TAEs, other thought leaders, external organizations, etc.) is preferred
    • Pharmaceutical industry knowledge and understanding/experience with drug discovery and commercialization process
    • Understanding of business context and regulatory environment and trends
