Job Purpose:

  • Leads and provides strategic change management advice and recommendations to senior leadership on PDS-wide programs, activities, and decisions. Advise on organisational impact, change approach and activities, and senior stakeholder management. 
  • Act as strategic change advisor, responsible for designing, planning and oversee executing change programs for PDS programs or projects that are the most impactful to the organisation from either a people or business point of view.
  • Accountable for developing change management as a core competency across all levels of PDS, to ultimately enable our managers to deliver programs where more of the people impacted by the change make the change – they make it in line with the target level of proficiency, and they make it quicker.  
  • Ensures stakeholder outreach and engagement are proactively and consistently utilized to ensure an integrated Global Safety strategy that is embraced cross-functionally by individuals and their respective teams across Roche Pharma. 

This is a highly visible position that requires strong strategic agility, collaboration, communication, facilitation skills and knowledge of the R&D and Safety / Risk management business and environment.

Primary Responsibilities and Accountabilities


  • Advise Global Safety across functions and affiliates to understand, create, and implement strategic change management programs.

          -Collaborate with all stakeholders, as applicable, including IT, Regional Heads, Vendors, Change Managers in other groups and Global Affiliate Offices across Roche Pharma in order to identify and assign Change Champions and resources to audiences where there is perceived resistance or lack of understanding.

          -Ensure business continuity and safety excellence for all deliverables within established timelines.

          -Identify, support and coach “change champions” in their assigned tasks of rolling out change initiatives in their specific organization, team or group

          -Ensure change management know-how is transferred to all leaders in Global Safety and applied consistently

  • Developing change management as a core competency that focuses on gaining employee engagement and adherence to the established Global Safety strategy, while ensuring minimal impact on stakeholder performance and deliverables.

          -Oversee detailed stakeholder analyses and change impact assessment to apprise colleagues about the development of a change initiative.

          -In close collaboration with Global HR Business Partner, ensure change initiative includes an HR plan, communication plan, training plan, change impact, resistance identification and according plan.

          -Implement change initiative through the leaders in Global Safety, ensuring that risks associated with the change are identified and prioritized with concomitant mitigation strategies at the onset of change plan to resolve issues swiftly.

          -Collaborate with the Global Safety Leadership Team to identify optimum communication channels and develop aligned change strategies that are in concert with individual stakeholder group needs.

          -Consistently and proactively provide information to maintain the engagement of stakeholders across Roche Pharma.

          -Collaborate within and outside Global Safety to ensure stakeholders across Roche Pharma are trained and have received aligned messaging regarding change management initiatives and plans.

          -Develop, track and evaluate metrics that will enable the monitoring of change progress and performance.

          -Perform a “Lessons Learned” exercise and efficiency checks after each change initiative that has been implemented.

    We are looking for a professional with University degree (Master) in Business Administration, Organizational Development or related discipline required and  15 years + change management experience within a global matrix corporation or public sector organization, ideally operating within a highly regulated environment, delivering meaningful reputational, financial and operational benefits and experience in a management consultancy environment at a senior level may be an advantage.


    Strongly desired: A relevant post-graduate qualification (e.g. MBA; Project Management certification) is highly desirable.

    You will bring:


    Experience, Skills, Knowledge:

    • Operational experience with the Pharma industry beneficial
    • Successfully led and implemented large scale organizational change programs impacting people, processes, systems, controls, organisation, in relation to enabling growth, achieving potential, improving performance, restructuring, compliance and other
    • Experience and knowledge of recognized change management methodology and tools proven to underpin the delivery of successful business transformations and measurable outcomes, and those change management interdependencies with program management and leadership
    • Deep experience in designing, integrated-planning and supporting the delivery of complex change through at least four levers including: sponsorship & leadership, communication, coaching, training, resistance management and metrics
    • Experience of using experiential learning techniques to enable individuals to develop ability from knowledge
    • Core competencies including: deep listening, curiosity, intuition, action planning and self management
    • Ability to influence sponsors and stakeholders of concurrent change programs before they impact the same individuals, to integrate change where possible, deliver maximum positive impact at an individual level, minimizing complexity and business disruption
    • Good analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.  Able to quickly develop insight into underlying issues and propose strategies and tactics. Balances a strong conceptual and analytical approach with pragmatism in implementation.
    • Outstanding communication (written and oral) e.g. experienced writing change management and communication plans, charters etc., 
    • Solid presentation, influencing, and interpersonal skills. 
    • Ability to engage and influence the support of top management, build consensus and manage conflict in challenging situation
