The role is in EEMEA (Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa) Medical Affairs Department and The Regional Medical Therapeutic Area Director (RMTAD) has a pivotal role in the strategic planning of regional medical activities including scientific and medical/clinical education, data generation, scientific collaboration and knowledge dissemination/exchange within the therapeutic area of oncology/hematology. The focus is to support countries and sub-regions in the pre-launch and launch phase of Roche’s oncology pipeline, focusing in the EEMEA region on the HER 2 franchise, cancer immunotherapy and hematology.

In this highly strategic role, your focus will be on the following activities and responsibilities:

  •  As the medical reference in the region effectively delivering medical expertise to the Product/Franchise teams through the EEMEA Medical Network
  • Developing, training and coaching Medical Managers and MSLs in the assigned therapeutic area, clinically and scientifically  and supporting development of  the medical strategy for in region EEMEA key countries with the country medical managers and ensure alignment with the other functions, predominantly Market Access
  • Working effectively and closely with the Regional Franchise Leads, Global Medical Affairs,  the Regional Medical Compliance Office and further regional functions
  • Ensuring consistency of project planning and execution, including internal and external communication and developing and maintaining a strong relationship with Therapeutic Area Leaders, regionally and internationally
  • Working with Medical Managers from EEMEA countries to ensure quality input into medical/scientific planning, including local and regional data generation, scientific collaboration and knowledge exchange  activities,  in line with global and regional  strategy and ensure consistency of regional projects preparation and execution through promotion of project management standards from concept development to final execution.

    • To be successful in this role, you have ideally a medical/scientific (also Pharm D, Clinical Pharmacologist or Pharmacist) degree with a minimum of 5 years professional experience in the pharmaceutical industry in different functions across Medical Affairs and drug development and preferably at local and global/regional level. You are proficient in clinical oncology/ hematology and preferably have a specialist degree. Additional degree such as Master of Pharmaceutical Medicine, Master of Public Health or MBA is of advantage

    • Furthermore, you possess the following experiences and competencies, such as profound experience in pharmaceutical medicine incl. data generation, medical communication, medical information, regulatory processes, pharmacovigilance, medical compliance , experience of working in a cross-functional/multicultural environment

    • Ability to operate successfully in a matrix environment with shared accountability and responsibilities, strategic thinking and creative solutions development, analytical skills
    • Well-developed project management skills, incl. software literacy (e.g. Microsoft Project)
    • English – full proficiency. French, Arabic, Russian, Turkish of advantage
    • Travel frequency 50% plus
