The RWD Scientist partners with RWD Analysts, and scientists in clinical, safety, biostatistics, regulatory, medical affairs, and MORSE to generate RWD evidence to support across the lifecycle of the programs. The RWD Scientist has the primary strategic and operational responsibilities for RWD components of studies at every life-cycle stage of the molecule. The RWD Scientist is typically the lead RWD-S representative on cross-functional study management teams. The RWD Scientist may also provide support to the creation of the clinical development plans and medical plans.


Role Responsibilities:

  • A member of the RWD-S Disease Area Team. Typically a lead RWD scientist on the cross-functional study team for RWD studies. May be a member of a cross-functional team (e.g.,Safety)
  • Contributes to team decision-making, generates new ideas/approaches and identifies opportunities to implement them, and provides input to clinical development plans and medical plans under the leadership of senior RWD scientists/line management
  • RWD studies: Develop RWD study protocols and analysis plans which accurately address molecule strategic context. Collaborate with external partners (e.g., key opinion leaders, academic institutions, CROs) on design and implementation of RWD studies. Develops analysis specifications in partnership with RWD Analysts. Authors or contributes to study reports, publications, and presentations
  • Contributes to Regulatory submissions and Health Technology Assessments in collaboration with global and local cross-functional teams
  • Participates in the Health Authority and HTA meetings
  • Effectively communicates globally, and proactively shares lessons learned and best practices within the function and teams
  • Able to explain methodological strengths and work to minimize the impact of limitations of RWD

  • Maintain knowledge of RWD science methods and their application

  • Maintain knowledge of RWD sources for therapeutic area

  • Participates in RWD-S functional and other cross-functional initiatives

    • Excellent drive to achieve goals and results in a timely manner (demonstrates interest and ability to learn new things, takes initiative, welcomes problems as challenges, contributes suggestions and ideas to support goals; finds solutions to technical problems)


    Background/Experience and Education

    • MSc or PhD in Epidemiology, Outcomes Research, Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics or similar areas of academic discipline
    • Good knowledge of English in a business environment
    • Programming experience with SAS or/and other statistical software packages desirable
