A Scientist level position is available in the area of Mechanistic ADME / Drug Transport within Pharmaceutical Sciences, Roche Innovation Centre Basel. This group supports small molecules, biologics and oligonucleotide discovery and development projects to elucidate drug transporter processes related to oral absorption, tissue and subcellular distribution, renal and biliary elimination, as well as the potential for transporter-related drug-drug interactions.

You will be responsible for:

  • The design and conduct of tailored in-vitro drug transport studies to assess new chemical entities for their potential as substrates or inhibitors of different drug transport proteins
  • Using various cell-based and vesicle-based test systems
  • Performing data evaluation, formal documentation and communication
  • Present data to various stakeholders
  • Keep up to date of the latest developments in the area of drug transport
  • Have an active interest in the development of innovative in vitro tools and methods to address questions related to drug disposition during early profiling, clinical candidate selection and beyond
  • Having an aptitude to write scientific publications in different forms will be expected

    You hold a PhD in pharmacy, biochemistry, biology or in another relevant discipline, as well as:

    • In-depth academic and/or industrial knowledge of and practical experience with drug transport proteins
    • Strong background in cell biology and practical experience with cell-based assays are must haves; knowledge or experience in pharmacokinetics is an asset
    • Highly motivation and commitement to work in a team. You strive to develop into new areas and expand your existing capabilities
    • flexibility, efficiency and you are used to deliver on tight time lines
    • Familiarity with standard hard- and software (Windows, Office and software data evaluation applications), electronic sample management applications, literature searches and kinetic evaluation are expected
    • A very good command of written and spoken English is mandatory
