For our HR Operations & Total Rewards Team we are looking for a dynamic and hands-on Senior Compensation and Benefits Manager. The position is based at the company’s Headquarters in Basel and will report into the Head of Global HR Operations & Total Rewards.



    • Responsible for recommending, implementing and delivering the compensation and benefits strategy in close co-operation with the Corporate Head of HR and Global Head of HR Operations & Total Rewards
    • Manages Straumann’s Senior Management Group in terms of C&B
    • Acts as global C&B subject matter expert; consults and partners with global/regional/local HR and line managers to identify understand and address issues related to C&B
    • Supervises and manages all global C&B incentive programs (STI, LTI, Employee Shares, etc.)
    • Evaluates effectiveness of compensation administration (pay-for-performance, market competitiveness, internal equity, etc.) and develops and implements necessary corrective action plans
    • Provides value added compensation data analysis and recommendations to facilitate management and HR decision-making
    • Contributes to activities and projects aimed at developing and optimizing C&B processes
    • Standardizes and harmonizes all C&B related processes, regulations and guidelines
    • Monitors industry trends and general legislation related to C&B
    • Manages, coaches and develops the directly reporting C&B Specialist

    Compensation Framework

    • Deploys the Straumann’s standard remuneration/grading structure throughout the whole organization
    • Works closely with the local HR Teams to implement the Straumann’s Compensation Framework and ensures consistency in the application
    • Regular review of the Straumann’s Compensation Framework by conducting industry benchmarks (Mercer etc.)
    • Supports regional market compensation analysis and ensures delivery of benchmarking and insights in the C&B area, a.o. management of and submission to annual compensation benchmark surveys

    Compensation Management

    • Plans and coordinates the annual compensation review process globally and the bonus payout process for HQ
    • Reviews existing compensation packages and makes recommendations
    • Ensures guidance to the HR Community in the planning and execution of international assignments and ensures they are correctly authorized and managed
    • Supports Expat management of expatriates; works regularly with company designated tax consultants, visa attorneys, relocation services, and other external/internal vendors/groups to meet expatriate needs.
    • Ensures proper management of Expat payroll (withholding taxes, recharges, and coordination with local HR/Finance) in close cooperation with our payroll team
    • Works in close conjunction with the local HR Business Partners to provide support and methodology in addressing local compensation issues in a structured way

    HR Systems, Reporting and Budgeting

    • Leads the deployment of all C&B related tools (SuccessFactors, Mercer etc.)
    • Accurate and up-to-date maintenance of Organizational structure in SAP HR, including position and org management, functional grading, Mercer codes etc. and ensures integrity of STMN’s Compensation data
    • Responsible for providing planning, reporting and analysis of HR KPI’s and data for management decision making
    • Coordinates the HR budget process globally in close cooperation with the local HR Community and Finance


    • Leads the global roll-out of the Remuneration/Grading project
    • Manages projects to enhance and implement IT systems supporting performance management and compensation review process (SAP SuccessFactors) globally
    • Special projects as assigned
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Human Resources or a related field; further education in C&B is an asset
    • At least 8 years’ relevant working experience in a Senior Compensation and Benefits role with a global reach
    • Profound knowledge of payroll, tax and social security systems and Employment Law, contractual terms/conditions as well as strong understanding of HR processes
    • Ability to work independently, to multitask, and work well under pressure and deliver within tight timelines
    • Identify, analyze and solve complex problems and issues in a straightforward manner, strong analytical and decision-making skills
    • Ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate personal credibility
    • Highly efficient, conscientious and diligent work approach, complemented by a service- and a results-oriented work attitude
    • Excellent organizational/project management skills and ability to manage multiple assignments/projects simultaneously
    • Proven track record of leadership responsibility
    • Strong HR systems aptitude (Superuser SAP HCM, SuccessFactors) and high proficiency in Microsoft Excel
    • Team player, energetic, service-oriented and able to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment
    • Fluency in English and German, both written and spoken is a must
