To strengthen our Global Procurement department at our Swissport Group Services Office, located in Baar, Switzerland we are looking for a:

Head of Indirect Procurement/Global Category Leader

Job description
This newly created position will be twofold: (1) Personally lead selected Indirect Categories (Professional Services among the others); (2) Be responsible for the creation of the overall Swissport Indirect Procurement Strategy and lead a small team of Indirect Category Leaders.
  • Drive the Indirect Procurement Strategy creation and implementation.
  • Define the Indirect Procurement KPIs, within the Frame of the existing global procurement KPIs.
  • Lead a team of 2 category leaders based in Switzerland, and 2 more indirect procurement managers based in other regions.
As a Global Category Leader you will:
  • Drive and implement category strategy, or renew strategic category management plans (in own categories).
  • Analyze data to identify sourcing / savings initiatives.
  • Take initiative to launch RFIs/RFPs/RFQs as appropriate.
  • Drive savings in own categories.


As Head of Indirect Procurement you will:
  • Drive the Indirect Procurement Strategy creation and implementation.
  • Define the Indirect Procurement KPIs, within the Frame of the existing global procurement KPIs.
  • Lead a team of 2 category leaders based in Switzerland, and 2 more indirect procurement managers based in other regions.


In addition to the above, you will:
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to build consensus and alignment for sourcing projects, identify key stakeholders and collaborate, advise and influence (where appropriate) in a matrix organization.
  • Effectively build and manage relationships with suppliers, using “make compete” v “cooperate” approaches.
  • Manage costs (should-cost models, cost reductions, value creation, etc.) and drive savings.
  • Work closely with sales, business development and finance in regards to upcoming needs (forecasts & capex).
  • Observe market tendencies (innovation, overall state of supplier market and vendors).
  • Set-up KPI’s and monitor service levels to ensure compliance and uninterrupted availability.
  • Set rules of engagement with Swissport’s regions / country organizations (incl. subsequent control of compliance).
Your profile
  • At least 10 years of procurement experience.
  • At least 3 years experience to manage global indirect categories.
  • At least 2 years experience to manage (a team of) global category managers. 
  • Experience to procure professional services is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with key stakeholders in multiple global locations and at Indirect procurement category from a global point of view is a must.
  • At least 2 years experience to manage other global indirect category leaders various levels.
  • Down-to-earth work attitude, hands-on mentality.
  • Excellent social & communication skills – able to clearly articulate position in a complex organization.
  • Strong leadership skills to effectively manage category processes, and cross functional teams in matrix.
  • Proven track record in delivering year to year cost savings and driving cost reduction and change projects.
  • Strong process and project management experience.
  • Strong negotiating skills and understanding of contractual key terms.
  • Fluent spoken and written English at business level are a must.
