The Institute of Molecular Cancer Research
The IMCR is part of the Faculty of Medicine, as well as the Faculty of Science, of the University of Zurich. It is situated on the main Irchel Campus and is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. Moreover, IMCR employees have full access to the central facilities of the University and the ETH. The IMCR currently employs about eighty staff from many different parts of the world, active in several areas of DNA repair and cancer biology. The Technical Assistant / Lab Manager will work on projects concerned with DNA damage response and DNA replication in the context of genome instability and cancer. This position is linked to the group of the Assistant Prof. Lorenza Penengo, and carries a competitive salary (68'000-100'000SFr./year, depending on title and experience).
We are seeking for a highly motivated individual, able to integrate and organize a research team and to contribute in parallel to a number of different methods and research lines. Besides direct involvement in multiple research projects (ca. 60%), the job includes lab management (20-30%; orders, stocks, organization) and general duties for the Institute (10-20%).
The successful candidate will be a young, flexible and independent technician, with strong organizational skills and a good sense of leadership. A solid training in cell culture, biochemistry (including production and purification of recombinant proteins in different cellular systems) and molecular biology techniques is strictly required. Five or more years experience in managing a lab and assisting technically multiple projects is strongly preferred. A good knowledge of both German and English languages is strictly necessary. In light of the strong emphasis on technical assistance and lab management, an academic background (Master/PhD) is not required.
