• Responsible for the implementation and operational support of all aspects of
client's Virtualization Infrastructure including desktops, thin clients, application
virtualization, client image.
• Interacts with both technical and non-technical personnel, monitors and
enforce SLA’s and follow problems to resolution.
• Contributes to development of Varian IT by participating in international
projects.
• Working within a global team to support end users and client devices
domestically and internationally
• Perform day to day hands on administration, troubleshooting and incident
resolution duties
• Provide hands on technical assistance to Varian IT client and server systems
• Manage ServiceNow incident and request workflows by taking ownership,
prioritizing incoming work, and delivering services meeting defined Service
Level Agreement (SLA) timelines
• Resolve and respond to questions received via telephone, email or other
collaboration methods meeting defined SLA’s
• Keep IT Infrastructure up-to-date
• Be able to diagnose, analyse and solve complex problems and demonstrate
excellent troubleshooting skills
• Contribute to assigned projects. Attend conference calls and meetings with
project team members from around the world, carry out assigned project
tasks according to project schedule
• Occasional domestic or international travel required
• Maintaining relationships with third party providers and monitors Service
Level Agreements
• Maintain up-to-date documentation
• Applies all QA Procedures as assigned
• Assist and support the client services team in other areas as requested by
the line manager
• Build, install, configure and maintain VMware products including Horizon
View, App Volumes and Desktop Virtualization
• Provide advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution of the client
Virtualization Infrastructure
• Research root cause of problems and escalate to engineering and vendor
support as necessary
• Develop, automate and implement operations best practices
• Plan and execute regular VMware Horizon maintenance upgrades
• Supports major Virtualization Infrastructure expansion projects
• Guides users in formulating requirements, advises alternative approaches,
and conducts feasibility studies
• Document new help desk procedures as well as maintain documentation on
troubleshooting and technology, contribute to the knowledge base as
required and ensure smooth hand over to third party Helpdesk provider
• Maintain password, data, and system security according to IT security
processes and standards.
Job Requirements• Degree in computer science or equivalent desirable
• VMware Virtualization technology certification desirable
• Number of years related experience: Minimum 5 years’ experience as System
Administrator or in Systems Engineering
• Fluency in German & English, both written and spoken.
• Must be mature and tactful
• Must be highly motivated and have a positive attitude
• Must be a team player
• Excellent listening and customer service skills
• Excellent analytic and logical thinking
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
• Understanding of commercial terms
• Willing to travel occasionally domestic or international
