Global Business Development Director Technical Polymer Applications

  • Strategy
  • Develop segment specific global New Business Development (NBD) strategy, define short- and mid-term targets and implement related measures
  • Seek new approaches for value extraction (e. g. new route-to-market)
  • New Business Development (NBD)
  • Push sales with new products and advocate for young products during their growth phase till they reach maturity
  • Drive onsite business development concepts based on GCC and PCC solutions as well as new technologies
  • Seek new business opportunities beyond established core business
  • Explore new business opportunities towards diversification beyond the traditional Omya products
  • Deliver orientation for pricing & value-in-use to the regional MDI
  • Innovation Process
  • Put together, get approval for (from segment head @Gate-4) and handover of roll-out-plan to the regional MDI, monitor progress and drive corrective measures
  • Closeout innovation project upon achievement of roll-out (incl. lessons learned report)
  • Roll-out management
  • Gather relevant information through the 4 MDI's (input to the rollout plan)
  • Plan global roll-out of new products (incl. transfer of products which exist already into a different region where they are new)
  • Agree with MDI and regional sales upon actions for the rollout
  • Provide (with support from TS infrastructure) appropriate information («fact-pack») on new products to internal (sales & MDI) and external (customers)

  • Master's degree in economics/business administration, additional academic degree in technical/engineering is a benefit
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant business experience, ideally in the area of products/markets/applications, relevant to the segment polymer
  • Personality with a strong entrepreneurial spirit, having a feeling for the market value of new products
  • Project Management and Portfolio Management skills and proven track record of successful execution of complex projects
  • Proven effective leadership and communication competencies including the ability to interact effectively and sensitively with individuals from a range of backgrounds and at all levels
  • Good command of English, additional languages (particularly German) are a plus
