PhD position: "Interaction of graphene related materials and abraded materials from reinforced nanocomposites with 3D in vitro lung models"

This research project aims to explore the bio-response of GRM on human cells, estimate the release of GRM from nanocomposites after mechanical abrasion and correlate the biological effects with the physico-chemical properties of pristine, abraded GRM and selected benchmark material. You will acquire an in depth understanding of the interaction of nanomaterials with cells of the human lung. You will design, conduct and analyse scientific experiments in an interdisciplinary environment and in cooperation with other academic partners. This includes the presentation of your results in scientific publications and on national as well as international conferences.
We are looking for a well-organized, highly self-motivated, excellent candidate interested in nanosafety research. The candidate should hold a MSc degree in biology, life science or a related field and should have experience in in vitro culture preferentially related to the lung.
We offer a highly interdisciplinary research environment with state of the art laboratory equipment to perform industry relevant cutting-edge research. Our young and continuously growing team consists of experienced technicians, scientists, post docs as well as PhD and master students. We are active and successful in different areas of nano-safety as well as nano-medical research.
