Applications are invited for a PhD student position available in the Laboratory of Plant Cell Biology(Assist. Prof. Dr. Clara Sánchez-Rodríguez) at the Department of Biology( www.biol.ethz.ch) as of November 1st, 2016, or upon agreement.
PhD Student Position – Mechanisms of plant early response to filamentous pathogens
The Laboratory of Plant Cell Biologystudies the first layers of plant stress response: the cell wall and the plasma membrane signaling. One PhD student position is available to participate in the study of Arabidopsis perception and early defense to the root vascular pathogen Fusarium oxysporum. The candidate will characterize the mechanism of plasma membrane protein internalization and their role in Arabidopsis defense signaling in response to F. oxysporum. The research will use a combination of complementary tools, including molecular genetics, advanced cell biology and proteomics, among others. The position is located in the city-center Campus of ETH Zurich, a world-leading institution in basic and applied research.
Applicants shouldbe highly motivated with interest in molecular plant biology. Preference will be given to students with some knowledge and expertise in plant molecular biology, plant cell biology, and/or proteomics.
