The Chair of Geosensors and Engineering Geodesyat the Institute of Geodesy and Photogrammetry, covers geodetic measurement technologies, geomonitoring, data processing and engineering geodesy in both teaching and research. Core subjects of research are areal monitoring using terrestrial laserscanning and radar interferometry, development and calibration of high-precision geodetic measurement systems, and ubiquitous positioning. Scientific Assistant / Doctoral Student Terrestrial Laserscanning
The successful candidatewill work on a research project related to the mathematical modelling and experimental investigation of the laser scanning measurement process. He/she will have the possibility to write a doctoral thesis within the project. The candidate will support the Chair in supervising student labs and Bachelor/Master theses. Besides working on the particular research subject there will be the opportunity to collaborate in other projects in the field of the Chair's research areas and thus broadening the personal background. Within these tasks contacts will be established with various cooperation partners within ETH, in industry and with authorities.
We expecta very good university degree in the field of geodesy, geomatics, physics or electrical engineering with focus on metrology, photonics, laser technology or laserscanning. The candidate should be equally team-minded and self-reliant, interested in research and teaching, proactive and responsible. Very good command of English is required. Experience with MATLAB, programming knowledge, and command of German or willingness to acquire it are an advantage.
