Postdoctoral position in Forest Ecophysiology
Research withinthe Leaf2Canopy project focuses on improved characterization and integration of forest canopy structural and biochemical vertical profiles to upscale leaf to canopy photosynthesis. The project aims at investigating two aspects of the photosynthesis upscaling problem: (1) the heterogeneity of leaf-level traits within canopies, and (2) the complexity of canopy structure. The project is interdisciplinary, at the interface of plant physiology, carbon modelling and remote sensing. The Postdoctoral position includes the following responsibilities: set-up and maintenance of sensors for continuous micrometeorological and phenological data acquisition, lead and active participation in intensive field campaigns to measure canopy structure, photosynthesis and biochemical leaf traits, and development of improved leaf-to-canopy integration and upscaling schemes for modelling. The research will be carried out at a mixed broadleaf forest site located within 30 km of Zurich.
The position spans the duration of two years.
Applicants shouldhold a PhD degree with a strong background in plant ecophysiology, expertise in spectroscopy, biochemistry or micrometeorology are an asset. Relevant experience in field/experimental research or modelling is required for this position. The applicant should have a documented record of previous research accomplishments, have a strong interest in process and system oriented research and proficiency in quantitative data analyses. To hold a driving license is a requirement.
