The Riek Group in the Laboratory for Physical Chemistryis a multifaceted research team with a focus on the structure-activity relationships and mechanisms of protein aggregation into amyloid fibrils, both those associated with diseases such as Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease, as well as those with biological function. We have an open position for a
PhD student in structural biology
The scientific workwill focus on the structure-based drug design on amyloid fibrils that are associated with neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. Expertise in protein biochemistry and structural biology as well as chemistry is of advantage.
We are lookingfor a highly motivated candidate with a solid background in organic chemistry to carry out independent research. Because the project is interdisciplinary in nature, anyone with a Masters or Diploma in the physical or life sciences is invited to apply.
