The research group of Prof. Roman Stocker in the Institute of Environmental Engineering, is looking to hire a scientific editor, initially on a 50% basis, with percent effort possibly to be expanded later.
Scientific editor (50%)
He/she will beembedded in our group of approximately 20 researchers at ETH Hönggerberg and work closely with the Principal Investigator and with group members on the preparation of a range of documents, including scientific papers, grant applications, abstracts for conferences, job applications of group members, reports to sponsors, news items for our website, and more. The main emphasis will be on scientific papers, where we often aim for top-tier, interdisciplinary journals, and polished, high-quality writing is of the essence. The task of the candidate will rarely be the writing of first drafts, and instead will focus on editing, copy-editing, and polishing subsequent drafts.
The successful candidatewill be a native English speaker (required), have a background in science with preference for microbiology or biology, and experience in scientific editing. Specific familiarity with the research field is not required, but a background in microbiology is a plus, and we look for a willingness to learn about the group’s interests and work shoulder to shoulder with group members to best reflect our scientific work in our writings. The appointment will be initially for a duration of one year with an opportunity for further extension.
