At ETH Zurich in the Computer-assisted Applications in Medicine group, our research focuses on novel computer-assisted applications for screening and diagnosis of diseases. We have recently developed a hand-held ultrasound device for improved tumor screening of breast cancer. The invention was the winning technology of the Spark Award 2016 ( www.ethz.ch/spark-award).
The next project stage will translate the benchtop prototype into the clinical setting and investigate commercialization paths for our technology. We are searching for a motivated candidate willing to join our team as
Software developer in translational MedTech project (Internship)
The taskswill involve designing and implementing a software framework, which interfaces the hardware of a medical ultrasound system, for translating a medical imaging application into the clinic. The candidate will be responsible for building various necessary image data collection setups, as well as for implementing cutting-edge research algorithms for real-time operation, while also helping coordinate data collection with our clinical partners. Subsequently, the candidate will also assist in interpreting and validating collected data in the developed framework.
Preferred starting date is as soon as possible. We offer an employment of 6 to 12 months, with possibilities for extension.
To carry outthe above tasks, we are looking for a candidate with a bachelor or master in computer science, signal processing, engineering or related areas. Experience in software design and development (C++, QT framework/QML, Matlab) and know-how on integrating hardware and sensors (e.g., www.ultrasonix.com/wikisonix) are desirable. Prior experience in translational system development from academia to commercial sector is preferential. Familiarity with medical application development according to certification guidelines (e.g. SwissMedic), and fast parallelizable/GPU architectures are a plus. A self-starter personality with attention to detail and excellent communication and reporting skills rounds up the profile.
