In this role you will perform requirements analysis, investigation and documentation of trade studies, system architecture development, implementation support, design verification, and component and system certification. Your responsibilities will include ensuring satellite communication, communication between modems and antennas, communication between the different parts composing airborne or ground terminals. You are a smart, well-rounded engineer who has experience with developing new circuit card assemblies, designing and implementing new logic, assembly and interface different components, testing and creating documentation. You will regularly utilize skills, knowledge and troubleshooting related to TCP-IP Networking, CISCO equipment, FPGA programming, theoretical and practical hands-on. You will work with other ViaSat personnel from multiple disciplines; systems, software, RF, electrical and mechanical engineers to design integrate and test terminals and systems. You will leverage your expertise to develop test and integration plans and procedures to perform requirements verification of a system or a system of systems.


  • 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering, communications engineering, systems engineering, or similar field
  • Digital, RF, Mechanical, and Software knowledge
  • Good knowledge of IP/Networking equipmentExperience with digital design involving processors, SDRAM, FPGA, Ethernet, DC to DC converter
  • Familiar with Matlab/Simullink HDL/Modelsim and wireless communication theory.
  • Expertise in protocol standards such as IPv4, IPv6, Mobile IP, 802.11b/g, GRE, ARP, and IPSEC
  • DSP experience or background
  • Familiar with FPGA design and simulation methods using VHDL or Verilog hardware description language
  • Advanced experience troubleshooting
  • Perform multiple tasks under aggressive timeframes and competing deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • Swiss or EU citizenship
  • Ability to travel up to 15% to international locations


  • Hardware testing and troubleshooting using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies and multimeters
  • Knowledge of RF equipment, tracking antennas, standard test equipment and communications theory
  • Familiar with RF test equipment such as spectrum analyzers and signal generators
  • Understanding of satellite broadband networks and technologies.
