Reputation Management (70%)

• In collaboration with the Global Oncology and corporate media relations team, develop and implement a communications strategy to highlight our innovation and leadership in transforming cancer care in appropriate, influential external settings, e.g. news media, and key industry, scientific and oncology forums with a focus on Europe
• Build strategy, messaging, content and tools/templates to aid leadership in addressing key challenges facing business unit from external stakeholders (ex: pricing of Oncology drugs, access, PFS vs OS, IO readiness, Biomarker/diagnostic strategy, etc.)
• Contribute to the development and refinement of Novartis Oncology positioning and story for both external and internal audiences
• Serve as the Europe-based spokesperson/media contact for Novartis Oncology
• Develop responses to top-tier media inquiries in close collaboration with Oncology Business Unit senior leadership, oncology media relations lead and corporate media relations team
• Counsel senior leadership on media strategy and positions, as well as prep for media interviews/interactions
• As capacity allows, lead key global issues for the BU, e.g. pricing, access, safety/supply
• Maintain NEM readiness for the business unit including infrastructure, leadership training and tools development. Build relationships with Pharma, GDD, corporate and HS&E for NEM efficiency in Oncology

• Design, develop and maintain core message platform, tools and channels to help the Oncology leadership team communicate mission and strategy of organization to external customers (slides deck, brochures, novartisoncology.com, etc)

Internal Communications (30%)
• Support real-CET-time internal communications needs for the CEO, e.g., urgent messages to associates about breaking news or issues
• In collaboration with the Global Head, Communications & Advocacy, develop content for stories, messages, blogs, Town Halls, etc. in the voice of the CEO
• Support communications of select Basel-based Oncology Executive Committee members on an as-needed basis
Minimum requirements • BA in communications or related degree, Master degree in communications preferred
• Advanced degree in business related field preferred
• Excellent competence in both spoken and written English; additional languages are beneficial
• 8 years experience
• Strong project and agency management skills
• Experience in crisis management, and proven record of managing crises through effective communication channels
• Demonstrated ability to work and influence senior leadership both inside and outside an organization
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Excellent persuasive ability Desired
• Familiar with Novartis set-up
• Excellent execution skills
• International experience a plus
