This role ensures accurate reporting of financial information to stakeholders in accordance to IFRS, statutory and Novartis standards & policies. The Team Lead is responsible for the integrated value flow cross-divisionally in the area of COGS from Production (cost object controlling) and inventory accounting including indirect responsibility of pre-profits. In addition he/she provides an effective and accurate business planning and analysis for the TechOps Basel departments on COGS from Production, TechOps period expenses and Inventory.

Service Delivery : -

• Has the operational oversight to provide services at expected levels with a clear customer focus, including handling the exceptions
• Leads collaboration with key stakeholders, including senior level cross-Novartis entities business colleagues, both accounting authorities/auditors and Novartis local entity/group financial reporting and accounting
• Sets clear strategic vision for the service line, ensuring alignment with NGSC strategy and communicates to all staff and key customers
• Drives and monitors improvements to sustain a highly effective and efficient accounting and reporting process, and realizes cost reduction opportunities including areas to harmonize and standardize processes
• Leads the measurement and delivery of service levels and SLA/KPI targets Manage day-to-day activities
• Actively leads and manages the period-end closing and reporting in accordance with laws and Novartis required standards
• Leads and manages the balance sheet account reconciliations of allocated accounts and ensures timely resolution and cleans of overdue items identified
• Ensures proper accounting of financial transactions and accounting specific questions are well addressed and solved
• Proactively reviews accounts to ensure all financial transactions are valid and recorded to ensure accuracy of reported data
• Assures correct valuation and completeness of all assets (inventory) and liabilities
• Ensures proper functionality and process linkages from/to other systems
• Analysis of accounting data and plausibility checks
• Ensures accurate and duly postings of all finance and controlling relevant transactions (Inventory Accounting, Production variances, etc.)
• Ensures coherent reporting within the TechOps Basel Departments
• Provides ad hoc reports for Pharma and Sandoz Finance Basel and Global TechOps Finance
• Facilitate set-up and maintenance of cost-object controlling
• Overall co-ordination of Budget, LF and Rolling Forecast process for TechOps Basel Departments with regard to COGS, TechOps period expenses and Inventory
• Leads and works in projects to improve profitability and efficiency
• MESA prices calculation and reporting Compliance
• Ensures compliance with Novartis Accounting Manual (NAM), Novartis Financial Controls Manual (NFCM) and regulatory requirements
• Ensures application of agreed Novartis control procedures and actively supports to deliver SOX certification
Minimum requirementsMinimum Requirements:-

• University level degree in Business Administration/ Economics/Finance or Chartered Accountant / MBA desirable
• Lean/ Six Sigma Certified preferred
• English (written and spoken)
• German is beneficial (written and spoken)
• French is a plus (spoken)
• 8-10+ years of financial experience, with in-depth functional expertise
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-national organization
• Previous experience in managing financial shared services
• SAP knowledge
• Previous experience in auditing, managing quality for shared services or consultancy is a plus
• Experience in managing projects driving performance improvements
