This is an opportunity to head and shape the global operational talent and resourcing function for a growing luxury hotel management group, redesigning the core processes and tools, and making a strong impact on the successful implementation of the group’s new People Strategy.


The newly created Corporate Director of Talent & Resourcing provides strategic direction and operational leadership to support Kempinski’s growth and business success. It has a strong impact on the successful delivery of the new People strategy introduced by the new VP Human Resources who joined end of 2015. The strategy is geared towards the vision to be the Employer of Choice for talents in luxury hospitality in the markets Kempinski operates in now and in the future, while enabling growth and driving superior business performance through effective people management.

To reach the people vision and support the implementation of the corporate strategy focussed on Quality, Performance and Compliance, the mission for the newly formed HR department is centred on several building blocks:

  • Drive individual and organisational Performance
  • On the basis of compliant and efficient HR Operations.

The Corporate Director of Talent & Resourcing role plays a key role in the design, planning, and implementation of the Employer Branding, Talent attraction, Selection, Talent management and Leadership development strategies for Kempinski as a global group, comprising around 25,000 employees in the current 77 hotels and corporate / regional offices.

The role reports to and works closely with the global VP HR and will start up a small team within the Corporate HR department; additional resources in key regions China and Middle East may be included in the medium term.


Key objectives for the role of Corporate Director of Talent & Resourcing include the following, as part of a multi-year programme to roll out the new global People Strategy:

Talent attraction:

for Kempinski to be considered an Employer of Choice (Top 5 in the competitive set), through an attractive and clear Employer USP and engaging employer brand marketing, an effective sourcing strategy and engaging candidate experience, and a well designed selection process to recruit the people with the competencies and attitude to deliver the business strategy.

Talent development:

ensure Kempinski develops the talent needed to fill a majority of key positions in its growing business internally, by implementing meaningful development plans and programmes based on to be defined competencies and model career paths, and achieving transparency of talent for senior management and specialist roles through new effective performance management, talent identification, succession planning, and internal mobility processes, supported by a global HR system which is to be implemented.


  • Co-lead a project to define Kempinski’s employer value propositionand employer brandingconcept in line with corporate values, including implementation of new career website, social media presence, and other recruiting channels, including hotel school/university recruitment in different global markets.
  • Take the functional lead in the configuration of a new application tracking systemfor Kempinski globally, as well as the talent and performance management modules, all part of the global HR system which is currently being sourced.
  • Review and design state-of-the-art recruitment processesas well as search and selection tools.
  • Sourcing of key senior leadership and professional rolesfor corporate and regional offices as well as support recruitment of key senior professionals for hotels, especially for new hotel openings, relying on direct search through social media, employee referrals, building an own internal and external talent database, as well as setting up preferred supplier partnerships.
  • Define leadership and functional competenciesand model career paths, to be embedded in recruitment, development, and training.
  • Together with the VP HR, redesign performance and talent managementprocesses and tools for Kempinski globally.
  • Evolve talent management(attraction, development and retention) to enhance bench strength and retention of key talent through succession planningand targeted development.
  • Provide effective support for internal talent mobility, helping hotels and regions to fill roles with internal candidates and manage global careers.
  • Develop leadership capabilities required through internal and external leadership training initiativesand high potential development programmesfor internal and external candidates (e.g. future creation of management trainee programme), working closely with the training function.

Additional responsibilities and tasks can be added at any time according to the needs of the business.

The profile of the Corporate Director of Talent & Resourcing includes the following requirements:



  • Relevant university degree, e.g. in business administration, economics, psychology, organisational development, HR management, hotel management, or tourism
  • A Master’s degree and/or a relevant professional accreditation would be a plus


  • Around 7-10 years’ experience, with a successful track record in managing best practice talent acquisition and development processes, having (participated in) the design and roll-out of new solutions adapted to the needs of a multicultural organisation.
  • Strong preference for an individual with experience in the (luxury) hospitality segment
  • Experience in providing functional leadership across direct and remote / functional teams
  • Successful track record of managing strategic projects


  • English: Proficiency in oral and written English is a must. If not a native speaker, the individual would have worked mainly in English throughout their career.
  • Other languages (German, French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian) would be a plus.


  • Ability to create a strategic plan for the roll-out of a new talent acquisition and talent management approach for Kempinski
  • Based on experience and own creative ideas, ability to design and implement concepts, e.g. performance and talent management processes, leadership development programmes, suited to the needs of the company
