The development of the cryptography on embedded electronic devices is raising interest in terms of security of such devices. One of the most generic attacks against such systems is called Side Channel Attack. By collecting physical signal (power, sound, electromagnetic signal..) it is possible (after complex processing) to retrieve information about the cryptography secret (keys). Today, many countermeasures have been proposed and implemented to fight these attacks. Consequently to bypass these effective countermeasures it is required to collect a large amount of data, this is why we need to use GPU technology and their high computation capabilities. 

  • Define a “GPU framework” to exploit known Side channel Attack based on different algorithms (Correlation Power Analysis, Mutual Information Analysis, Template attack). This framework must manage interface and data processing between our Matlab tool and GPU card (CUDA API). It will be necessary to reconsider (rewrite) the algorithms to take into accounts the parallelism.
  • Test the efficiency of the new approach on concrete attacks.
  • Demonstrator on, at least, on a GPU card (it must be scalable on several GPU cards)
Requirements / Profile
  • Good knowledge of C/C++.
  • Knowledge of GPU API and parallelism algorithm.
  • Be interesting by cryptography and big data analysis.
  • Rigorous and autonomous
