Position Purpose

This position is responsible for leading the creation and management of a new Contract Service Center (CSC) within the Legal department. The CSC, which will be staffed by a small team of contract specialists, will be responsible for drafting, managing and storing the vast majority of JTI HQ contracts. The CSC will replace the current contract process in which each in-house lawyer is responsible for handling all contract needs that arise within his or her function or region. In setting up the CSC, the CSC Director will follow the previously established Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) implementation plan and report  periodically to the CLM Steering Committee. The position will also be responsible for change management from the current to the new contract process, working in close collaboration with others.  The objective is to implement, lead and manage a more efficient and effective way for handling all aspects of the JTI HQ contracting process.


Build and manage the new CSC as a key part of the CLM process at JTI. Set clear objectives and a timeline for achieving them as part of implementing the CLM plan. Define key milestones for testing, piloting and phased implementation.
Oversee appropriate change management to ensure buy-in, sustainability and success of the process change within the Legal department and across JTI HQ.
Prepare annual budget, performance plans, and help drive annual improvements in costs through clear target setting and periodic cost and productivity analysis. Measure performance based on a set of metrics and drive continuous performance improvement.
Manage CSC staff to achieve defined objectives within time and quality parameters.  Create an inclusive, transparent and professional CSC culture that is consistent with JTI and Legal department values and culture.
Work with IT, Finance, Legal and others as necessary to create specifications for automation of the CSC and CLM process to the extent practicable using technology and digital solutions.

Qualifications & Experience

University degree; MBA or LLM degree preferred.
Minimum 5 years of experience leading and managing a contract or shared services team in a multinational environments, and ideally experience setting up a new contract management center.  Understanding of the contracting process within an in-house legal function, including basic contract drafting.  Proven ability to 1) drive discipline and complex process management in a large matrix organization,  2) implement effective change management, and 3) work cross-functionally.

Management of large scale organizational initiatives and experience in working with IT on technology-driven solutions for management of process flows and document mangementand storage.

Skills, Competencies & Languages

Fluent in spoken and written English, and proficiency in basic French; other languages an asset.  Excellent computer skills and understanding of digital technology.
