Manufacturing Scientist / Associate Manufacturing Manager


This position will report to the Senior Manager of European External Manufacturing and serve as a main point of contact with contract manufacturing operations in Europe.


  • Develop strong technical and business relationships with CMOs and be an on-site advocate for the company’s interests
  • Act as Person in Plant for conjugation, drug product and drug-linker (small molecule) manufacturing to ensure overall compliance, appropriate resolution to critical issues, and timely progress updates
  • Provide manufacturing project management including CMO scheduling and budget oversight
  • Support process changes (e.g., scale-up, site transfer) and improve manufacturing processes by application of facility fit, equipment know-how, and novel manufacturing technologies
  • Provide technical input to internal development teams and Contract Manufacturing Organization (CMOs)
  • Participate in multi-functional project teams during technology transfer and manufacturing stages of projects
  • Facilitate internal and external discussions to identify and address manufacturing challenges
  • Identify, evaluate, and review potential new suppliers including technical audits, management of proposal process, and execution of contracts
  • Perform technical review of cGMP controlled documents such as master and executed batch records, specifications, and manage the timely implementation/approval of these documents to meet project timelines
  • Participate in technical manufacturing deviation investigations
  • Work with supply chain operations to update inventory information to ensure adequate clinical supply
  • Provide technical support at European storage operations including Critical sample and inventory management support
  • Provide oversight and technical support for clinical packaging operations in Europe


Your profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry (preferred) or biochemistry/biology/bio-chemical engineering
  • Expertise in small molecule GMP manufacturing or process development preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency of cGMP regulations required
  • Five years or more relevant experience
  • Autonomously working, collaborative, communicative, resourceful personality
  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Knowledge of contracts and negotiation experience and project management experience a plus
  • Fluency in English, German would be a plus
