Clinical System Training Specialist

On behalf of our client, Global Biopharmaceutical company in Basel, Switzerland, we are looking for a Clinical System Training Specialist


The purpose of this Clinical System Training Specialist is to support the management and training of existing and new systems within Global Clinical Development (GCD).

In addition, the Clinical System Training Specialist includes activities related to the selection, specification, testing, and implementation of new system(s), plus activities related to the development and maintenance of existing systems, e.g., gathering system change requests, incorporating recommendations from users, and contributing to improving system(s).


Key Responsibilities


System training & testing

(for internal personnel, regional personnel and other departments, as required):

  • Develop and write training material (e.g., training manuals, helpful hints, Navigation Sheets)
  • Schedules deliver, and track training globally
  • Create training test scenarios for users and approve tests
  • Collect feedback on training, and develop and implement improvement ideas for user training

System Management/ System Project Management

  • Contributes to systems-related projects, e.g., organize / attend meetings, write minutes, contribute to project-related documents, liaise with other project team members

  • Interacts with External Service Providers (ESPs) as required regarding systems-related projects and day-to-day running of existing systems
  • Supports existing systems on the business side, attend team/system board meetings
  • Supports system testing
  • Supports system validation
  • Serves as a project manager from the business side for new systems (counterpart of Clinical Development Informatics & System [CDIS] project manager)
  • Coaches new team members
  • Provides input into enhancing existing systems and support users in developing new user requirements

Senior Clinical Systems Specialist:

  • In addition to the tasks mentioned above, the Senior Clinical System Specialist

  • Coordinates the global training program

  • Prioritizes user training issues and provides guidance to other team members
  • Acts as the system 'expert', including mentoring of other team members
  • Assumes responsibilities for new projects, serving as project manager from a business perspective
Ideal Profile


Experience and knowledge:

  • University degree

  • Minimum of 2 years' system training experience
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in clinical research (e.g., regional monitoring / experience in clinical trials)
  • Experience in developing training documentation, eLearning modules
  • Ability to develop metrics based on KPIs
  • Solid understanding of the clinical development process, needs, and terminologies
  • Experience in Good Practice Guidelines and Regulations (GxP) environment (understands validation concepts, etc.)
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Fluent in written and spoken English (additional languages advantageous

For Senior level:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Clinical IT systems and training

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in clinical research (e.g., regional monitoring / experience in clinical trials)

  • Very good organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a global and diverse working environment
