Overview AC Immune is a Swiss Biotechnology company specialized in the

development of innovative therapies against Alzheimer’s Disease and other

neurodegenerative diseases. AC Immune is seeking a highly qualified

Research Scientist to expand the company’s efforts in research and

development. The candidate must possess scientific background in

structural biophysics and protein dynamics in neurodegenerative diseases

and a clear record of accomplishment in an academic or a commercial

setting. S/he must have demonstrated their ability to make significant

discoveries in an academic setting or bring a research product to a clinical

stage. Promising opportunities for growth and advancement exist.

Job description • Brings in expertise and provides hands-on research support for the Biology

research team within the R&D department working on the discovery and

characterization of PET radiotracers for the diagnosis of neurodegenerative

disorders (mainly Parkinson’s disease and other synucleinopathies)

• Development and validation of new in vitro binding assays using

radioligand-based and/or label-free technologies for KD and KI


• Ex vivo autoradiography for target occupancy determination on human

post-mortem and rodent tissue samples.

• Development and evaluation of new procedures for the isolation of

pathological protein aggregates from human brain samples (e.g.

immunoprecipitation, sucrose gradient, FACS). Preparation and

characterization of tissue samples for binding studies.

• Evaluation of target engagement of small molecule compounds on human

brain tissue by direct staining and immunohistochemistry studies.

Qualifications The candidate should have the following qualifications:

• Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in Neuroscience or Pharmacology or related

scientific discipline.

• Post-doctoral experience with proven publication record would be an


• Previous experience in one or more of the following areas: ligand binding

assays, ligand/receptor interaction studies, structural biophysics, protein

dynamics, protein biochemistry, immunoassays

• Experience in neuroscience, neuroanatomy and neurodegenerative

disorders such as Parkinson’s disease as well as work with misfolded or

aggregated proteins would be an advantage

• Excellent organizational skills and capability of data documentation

• Team spirit paired with rigorous work style, self-motivation and ability to

design and execute scientific experiments autonomously

• Excellent oral and written skills in English is mandatory
