To support our team we are looking for:

Scientist/Engineer Adsorbent Development and

Characterization (f/m)

Climeworks Ltd, founded in 2009 as an ETH spin-off, is today a cutting-edge cleantech startup with 30

employees, providing solutions for capturing CO2 from ambient air. The obtained, pure CO2 can be either

directly sold to a range of customers across various industries, or used for manufacturing CO2-neutral fuels.

Since 2013 Climeworks is in a collaboration with the German car maker Audi. In long-term predictions,

Climeworks CO2 capture plants will enable global atmospheric CO2 reduction.

Your responsibilities

 Responsible for optimization of existing adsorbent materials as well as development of new adsorbent materials

 Further responsible for thorough characterization and analysis of respective adsorbent materials

 Based on the adsorbent material developments and characterizations, optimization recommendations for

adsorbent material production as well as adsorption process shall be made and communicated across departments

 Responsible to implement best practices for adsorbent material characterizations

 Responsible for keeping adsorbent material know-up up to date through literature reviews, conference

participation, etc.

Your profile

 Degree in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Chemistry or equivalent combination of

education and experience

 Three to five years professional experience in materials development, characterization and/or production


 Prior research or experiences in gas separation (adsorption, absorption, membranes, etc.) and/or porous

materials (adsorbents, catalysts, etc.)

 Experiences with obtaining and evaluating data for chemical and physical property investigations

(gravimetric/volumetric gas adsorption, mass spectroscopy, separation techniques, surface analysis, electron

microscopy, thermal characterization, rheology) is a plus

 Demonstrated ability to achieve objectives by working in and with cross-functional teams

 Integrity, reliability, strong willingness to perform, quick grasp and precise working style

 Proficiency in English, German is a plus but not mandatory

 Capable of working independently as well as in a fast-paced, team environment

 Passionate about cleantech technologies and their applications
