Line Manager’s Job Title: Marketing Segment Director Snacks & Confectionary

Responsible for managing the Snacks Segment vertical including the respective sub- verticals e.g. crisps, snack bars, biscuits, nuts & dried fruits. Product range is flexible packaging, sold to brand owners, and private label manufacturers big and small across Europe.


Develop where to play and how to win marketing plans & value propositions grounded on sharp identification of customer needs.  Draft and execute go-to-market strategies in close collaboration with customers; manage product portfolio, product life cycle and innovation funnel; lead new product development and launches, conduct market and competitive intelligence research leading to leads identification and qualification.




Financial: Annual revenue of approx. €400M+ (Snacks &Confectionery Combined)

Process: Long term planning, short term execution, leadership role with strong influencing

Complexity: Coordination with Crossfunctioal team (Sales, Commercial, R&D, Procurement)

Staff: no direct reports

Scope & Geographical spread: all flexible products serving Snacks customers in Europe, Middle East  & Africa



Planning and implementation


•             Deliver marketing plans for Snacks that cover 1-3 year financial goals. 

•             Lead the internal alignment and implementation of those plans in market

•             Prioritize initiatives to meet financial and strategic marketing objectives

•             Ensure Snacks vertical plans are aligned with BU goals and targets


Cross functional leadership in managing vertical profitability


•             Be the “champion” for the Sacks vertical – recognized “expert” and “leader”, set vertical direction and goals, manage the entire product life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities, engaging all relevant stakeholders

•             Manage the products and brands in the vertical, ensuring the best product mix to maximize financial performance (profitability and growth), balancing regional and site perspectives

•             Work with all stakeholders across Europe to manage/allocate resources and activities to support vertical marketing plans

•             Lead specific cross functional projects such as key simplification initiatives (Internal and External)


Innovation and Value Proposition


•             Lead product development vertical teams (R&D) to design and validate innovation concepts that address customer and consumer needs.  

•             Build unique selling propositions that support innovation concepts showing consumer benefits and advantages vs. competition.

•             Design platform innovation in a way that supports profitability and growth across the product lifecycle


Market Research / Business Intelligence


  • Pro-actively evaluate Sancks vertical needs, competitive forces, disruptive / emerging technologies and offerings
    • Acquire solid understanding of customers’ current and future needs
    • Manage Amcor product life cycle
    • Work alongside sales and technical community to monitor latest industry and competitive products and programs
    • Understanding competitive landscape, their strategy, activities and impact
  • Share market analysis with relevant stakeholders on an ongoing basis (e.g. market size, growth/decline, competitor shares, competitor analysis, customer insight summaries).
  • Recommend appropriate action course for Snacks vertical, align the team and translate decisions into actionable marketing plans




•             Partner with sales and commercial team to report and communicate performance & achievements of Snacks marketing and product management activities on regular basis via set of relevant KPIs across all stakeholders

•             Provide support for specific AFEMEA business projects and processes for (e.g. Quarterly Business Reviews, Strategic Plans, Budget)




Knowledge and Experience


•             >8-10 years marketing and product management experience in an international FMCG matrix environment

•             Demonstrated success with key marketing processes (e.g. strategic planning, competitive analysis, market research, new product development and launch, pricing strategies etc.)

•             Product knowledge and previous experience of the food packaging industry is a clear plus

•             Proven track record in aligning and maintaining organizational focus on Customer, new product introductions and product portfolio management

•             Fluent English. 2 additional European languages (e.g. French, German, Spanish) are highly recommended


Education and Certifications


•             Business School Graduate - Master Degree with specialisation in Marketing, Finance or Supply Chain / Manufacturing
