External Collaborations Associate Director

Your role:To manage key External Biotech Manufacturing Partners (CMOs) and key External Pharma Process Development Partners (CROs) for Merck’s Biosimilar Development programs. Act as key interface between Merck and CMOs/CROs, monitor the performance of CMOs/CROs in delivering the contracted services according to the Biosimilar Programs timelines and build trustful and respectful relationships with CMOs/CROs. Ensure that all strategic external collaborations deliver their intended value to the company. Build on Merck’s reputation in the Pharma Industry as a valuable collaboration partner. Contribute to the effective achievement of the External Manufacturing team’s functional objectives. Additional responsibilities within this role will include: Contributing to the selection process of the CMOs/CROs jointly with Procurement and Program Leaders, Coordinating the Technology Transfer of analytical methods and/or Manufacturing processes when applicable, Implementing Performance monitoring tools to ensure proper tracking of the deliverables according to the contractual objectives, Developing reporting tools to report project progress to the programs leaders, building and enhancing the Merck reputation in the (biosimilar) market as best partner, ensuring that all aspects of projects are legally covered. Additionally the holder of the position will be required to work with Controlling to manage the financial obligations related to the External Collaboration. You will work in a matrix and multicultural environment and work in close collaboration with CMC Leaders located in various sites.
Who you are
• Requires professional experience (7-10 years) in biotech industry, ideally in Biosimilar development projects
• University degree
• Demonstrated experience managing CMOs/CROs
• Good understanding of Biotech / Biosimilar development & Manufacturing process
• Excellent Negotiation and communication skills
• Sound understanding of Finance
• Excellent English (Written, Oral, Negotiations)
• Excellent Project management skills
• Hands on experience in complex issue resolutions
• Must be able to travel 25%
