Business Development Manager - Ad Business

With over 1.2 million listed items on ricardo.ch, 100,000 cars and 430,000 parts on autoricardo.ch and 2.9 million members, ricardo.ch is Switzerland’s biggest online marketplace. ricardo.ch employs over 140 people in Switzerland and has its offices in Zug.

We are currently looking for a manager who will be the owner and driver for our advertising business. This is not a sales role, but a strategic role that will shape how we create advertising opportunities for our partners, how we build our ad products and how we sell them.

Business Development Manager – Ad Business

What you will do:
  • Identify the most promising opportunities to grow our ad revenue and scale the advertising business within ricardo.ch and autoricardo.ch. Execute strategic projects to unlock such growth
  • Own a multi-million ad revenue goal. Define go-to-market strategy and priorities for internal and external initiatives that deliver against goals
  • Work closely with functional leads to build and launch tailored advertising programs on our platform
  • Partner with the sales team to drive revenue;
    participate in strategic client meetings
  • Observe global trends in online advertising and adtech; be the champion for bringing in international best practices to the organisation
  • Act as a strong advocate of our advertisers, work to drive customer satisfaction in close collaboration with Product Management, IT and Sales
  • Define and own metrics that measure business performance on advertising
  • Develop and defend business cases with financials and performance KPIs 

What we look for:
  • Proven track record in driving business initiatives to sustainable success
  • 5+ years experience in online advertising either in a business development or sales capacity with the ability to manage cross-functional teams in dynamic market environments
  • Experience in sell-side of advertising is a must
  • Excellent project management skills, ability to work well across a matrix organisation and to deal with ambiguity
  • Deep knowledge of adtech tools for publishers and key industry trends
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to drive business insights from data
  • Metric-driven mind-set and attention to detail in complex environments
  • Experience working in an online or tech company and deep understanding of its success factors
  • Strong dedication to deliver results and drive change with a positive can-do attitude
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and strong interpersonal skills
  • Fluency in German and English
  • University degree highly desirable. MBA degree is a plus
  • Understanding of eCommerce and/or marketplaces a plus
