  • Provides leadership and guidance with regards to data protection capabilities, including data classification, data inventory, data loss prevention
  • Works closely with the Master Data Management team and IT Business Partners
  • Assists in developing, refining, and maintaining the data classification policy, standards, and procedures
  • Conducts periodic reviews of data management, classification, and inventory processes, including interfacing with business teams
  • Translates, reviews outcomes into classification impact and preventive actions
  • Designs, develops, and implements data protection solutions (including processes and technology)
  • Interfaces with Privacy, Legal, and Compliance organizations to ensure data protection alignment between groups


  • Reports on plans and status of relevant data protection projects
  • Provides subject matter expert in data protection controls, data security assessments, and data protection standards and regulations
  • Develops and enhances data classification policy, standards, and processes
  • Provides advice and guidance to business teams with regards to data classification
  • Designs, develops, and maintains the data inventory
  • Interfaces with technology vendors for data loss prevention solutions
  • Designs, develops, implements, and administers the data loss prevention solution
  • Works with business, application, and other Takeda teams to conduct periodic reviews of data management, classification, and inventory processes
  • Conducts follow-ups on any identified corrective actions
  • Interfaces with Privacy, Legal, and Compliance organizations to ensure data protection alignment between groups
  • Advisor to system owners, security program managers and others in all matters (technical and otherwise) involving data protection
  • Manages the relationship between IT security and regional business executives and business managers
  • Provides recommendations in planning of programs and projects in the area of privacy and data protection
  • Reviews and manages budget and reports financial and event status to Head of Security Strategy & Architecture




  • Bachelor’s Degree (business administration, risk management, information security, Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science or related IT field) or high school degree
  • 7+ years IT experience
  • 5+ years of experience working on global (e.g. US, EU, Asia-Pacific) privacy laws, regulations and compliance frameworks
  • Experience running data protection programs in a global environment
  • Demonstrated leadership role in working with C-Suite executives and the Board
  • Provide oversight to budgetary planning for security-related activities
  • Experience with implementing and operating security programs in a global environment
  • Project management experience including full lifecycle implementation
  • Proven ability to analyse a wide variety of data and make calculated, risk-based decisions and suggest appropriate approach
  • Ability to communicate ideas and data both verbally and written in a persuasive and appropriate manner
  • Ability to assess strengths and weaknesses of staff members and provide suggestions for improvement
  • Ability to write and speak in the English language


  • In-depth pharmaceutical industry and drug development experience
  • Experience with validated systems


  • Information security certification (CIPP, CISSP, CISM)


  • International travel will be required.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25-50%.
  • Access to transportation to attend various meetings held in proximity to the Takeda offices.
