This role could be located out of Zurich, Switzerland or Deerfield, Illinois.  Business hours of operation will be Zurich, Switzerland (seven hours difference to US Central Time-Zone). 


Lead the Global Program Team (GPT), for assets post filing or approval.  Effectively lead a matrix team of functional leaders to achieve high levels of performance.  Lead the GPT in refining and executing the asset strategy (when appropriate) and cross-divisional / functional plans, driven by LOC customer (patient, provider, and payer) and market needs to maximize the value of the asset to Takeda.  Ensure the inputs of the LOCs that are selected to serve on the GPT are solicited, discussed, and accounted for during decision making.  Drive efforts to reconcile differing LOC commercial perspectives (where applicable).  Provide objective recommendations to PRC2, leveraging functional experts and LOCs, based on an assessment of the risk / benefit in relation to target profile and the clinical and regulatory objectives.  Drive cross-functional accountability, deliverables and timelines


  • Lead a matrix team of cross-functional and pan-geographic stakeholders (GPT representative-LOCs) to achieve high levels of performance by fostering critical thinking and effective decision-making
  • Coordinate with cross-functional business partners and LOCs to achieve optimized pricing/reimbursement/access status at initial launch and throughout subsequent country approval to maximize the value of the product during the product life cycle
  • Ensure alignment of cross-divisional plans (Commercial, Global Manufacturing and Supply Chain, Global Medical Affairs, and Regulatory), to ensure global regulatory submissions are delivered on time and approvals are achieved on fastest possible timelines at optimal reimbursement to enable successful commercialization
  • Coordinate and drive LCM planning with LOCs selected to serve on the GPT, and divisions (e.g. clinical science, regulatory, medical affairs) to optimize flow of new data and claims that meet customer needs
  • Ensures product package meets customer needs across channels
  • Lead the GPT activities including planning towards milestones, defining clear go/no go decision points, creating buy-up/buy-down scenario plans, and overseeing management of critical path activities
  • Proactively identify issues, resolve conflicts and communicate project-related issues to senior management.
  • Respond proactively to the dynamics of a changing competitive environment; advise on adjustments in functional or cross-divisional plans in response to changes in strategic direction
  • Understand differences in practices across LOCs, and seek to lead team to meet local demands while maximizing the value of the asset for Takeda



  • 10+ years experience in the global pharmaceutical or related healthcare industry
  • A University degree in business administration or science; graduate degree preferred
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking, strong analytical skills, creativity and innovative approach to problem solving
  • Ability to build strong cross-functional partnerships and external customer relationships
  • Ability to synthesize complex information and distil critical customer driven insights to develop innovative commercial Therapeutic Area Strategies
  • Demonstrated ability for flawless execution – an ability to bring strategy and analysis to a practical level, initiates projects and drive to completion
  • Ability to translate scientific data into actionable, business-relevant claims and communications
  • Ability to rebalance priorities on a regular basis and assume responsibility in a multi-tasking in environment
  • Enthusiastic, confident and able to work independently
  • Prior experience in commercial strategy with knowledge of drug development process preferred
  • Knowledge of relevant disease areas is preferred
  • Ability to closely partner with R&D 
  • Evidence of cross-cultural work successes


Traveling on a global basis is expected with this role.
