Research Technician/Assistant in Molecular Biology

(initial 1 year contract)

Novimmune SA is a drug discovery and development company located in Plan-les-Ouates (Geneva) that focuses on developing therapeutic monoclonal antibodies for inflammatory diseases and immune-related disorders.

The pipeline is a balance of preclinical and clinical compounds, specific for clinically validated and novel targets. Each of these portfolio products has the potential of becoming a medicine for multiple medical conditions due to the intrinsic mechanism of action. Five of these compounds are currently in early clinical development with the three most advanced in clinical Phase II and Phase III.

The company has also been purposefully targeting a number of orphan drug indications, with the express hope of eventually providing safe and effective treatment options to some of the often neglected populations suffering from rare diseases.

We are seeking a Technician/Research Assistant to support early drug discovery efforts at Novimmune. The future Technician will work in the Phage Display Unit and will interact closely with other members of the Research Department.

The successful applicant will contribute to the generation and characterization of antibody libraries that will be used for discovery of monoclonal and/or bispecific drug candidates.

Main activities:

  • Phage Display Antibody Library Construction
  • Perform plasmid preparation
  • Perform DNA amplifications by PCR
  • Large scale molecular cloning for library construction
  • Transformation of bacteria and purification of bacteriophage
  • DNA sequence analysis
  • Antibody in vitro Discovery:
  • Phage Display selections and screening

Skills and competencies:

  • Diploma in a relevant field (Biotechnology, Immunology or Biology)
  • At least 2 years of experience, preferably in industry
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques is absolutely required and previous exposure to in vitro selection methodologies would be a plus.
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently as well as a team member.
  • Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems in an autonomous manner
  • Be self-motivated/self-starting and diligent
  • Intermediate level in English, both written and spoken is required
  • Swiss resident or EU national
  • Immediate availability preferred
