Master’s Thesis Opportunity at LSST

Writing Nanoscale Chemical Patterns with Scanning-Probe Methods:

Applications in Biosensors

We are offering an exciting opportunity to carry out a Master’s thesis at the
Laboratory for Surface Science and Technology (LSST), in collaboration with
two dynamic Zurich startups: SuSoS AG and SwissLitho AG, both of which
are ETH spinoffs.

The goal of the project is to use the scanning-probe lithographic
capabilities of SwissLitho to create nanoscale chemical patterns on
surfaces, which would be highly applicable to novel biosensor
architectures. The chemical process relies on molecules invented by SuSoS
AG. We at LSST and the two startups are committed to the success of this
project, which would involve training and experiments to be carried out at
SwissLitho, SuSoS, and LSST. A final stage of the project could be the
integration of the patterns into real biosensor systems (in collaboration with
the Laboratory for Biosensors and Bioelectronics, D-ITET).
