Primary Role:

This role will report to the Head of GPS Compliance and have overall responsibilities for the following:

• Support the GPS function to build a strong awareness and culture of integrity and ethics in strategic marketing and product launching across all Shire business franchises

• Provide strategic and pragmatic client advice and guidance for assigned GPS Franchises activities and projects

• Develop guidance/resources/tools

• Deliver compliance and policy training for assigned Franchises and/or contribute to GPS training and launch programs

• Identify risks – collaborate to compliant solutions and monitor to completion

• Provide GAP analysis and identify compliant, best-practice solutions for policies/processes, governance and programs;

• Liaison to the assigned GPS Franchises for the purposes of helping to interpret policies and procedures defined by the GCRM function and vice versa serve as expert for GCRM colleagues

• Address day to day compliance questions from the assigned GPS Franchises staff members

• Facilitate knowledge exchange with stakeholders and GPS department members and GRCM, keeping abreast with standards of industry

• Ensure activities are carried out in a timely and compliant manner

• Shape and develop culture and values of GMA in alignment with corporate culture and lead by example

• Communicate effectively and provide consistent, compliance messaging to multiple stakeholders within the GPS function

• Follow up and report on budgets for GPS compliance department & contractor projects,

In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment, prioritize multiple projects and operate within a matrix organization.

As part of the GPS Compliance team, this individual will contribute to the development of a world class compliance organization serving the Global Product Strategy teams to achieve corporate goals and establishing our ethics and integrity as the core for how Shire operates.


• A Advice & guidance , focus assigned Franchises & projects : 60%

• B Dept. management – team and GCRM alignment: 15%

• C Budget responsibilities: 5%

• D [25% - to be completed: risk mitigation mechanisms, develop and provide compliance training and support for assigned TA related inspections and audits, Interpret laws, regulations and corporate policies and leverage them as best practices and continuous process improvements]

Education and Experience Requirements:


• MA in legal, marketing, business administration or scientific/medical discipline

• Min 10 years relevant work experience in healthcare industry

• Min 4 years in healthcare compliance related roles

• Cross-functional experience in healthcare and medical affairs

• Diverse and geographically dispersed stakeholder management experience


• Healthcare compliance certification

• Sales or Marketing or healthcare consultancy experience

Complexity and Problem Solving:

• Candidate will have a working understanding of Shire policies and procedures and will provide guidance to stakeholders on these established rules. When issues arise that do not have a clear “black and white” answer, the individual will consult with manager and members of GPS Compliance team for resolution

Internal and External Contacts:

• Will primarily consult with individuals responsible for the day to day operations within assigned GPS Franchise business units. In addition, this individual will also coordinate and be responsible for project management for any project for which external consultants are used (i.e. co-create training content and deliverables)

Other Requirements:

• Flexibility to travel internationally (20%)
