Open Rank Professorship in Economic Law or Business Law
The Università della Svizzera italiana (USI), Lugano (Switzerland) invites applications from
candidates of international research standing for an open rank position in “Economic Law or Business
Law”. The position at the level of Assistant Professor is tenure-track.
We are seeking a scholar with research interests in areas of Law related to Economics and Business
including – but not limited to – e.g. banking and finance (take overs and M&A, market regulation,
corporate governance), family business, economic policy and regulation, international affairs,
corporate social responsibility. The research focus may be either on areas of economic law or business
The new professor will be expected to contribute to our undergraduate and master’s programs,
supervise doctoral students, participate in the activities of the Faculty and University and conduct
research in the area of his/her interest.

The candidate’s profile
Minimum required academic qualification: a doctorate (PhD in Law). The candidate will have a
publication record in national and international leading journals and/or distinguished presses, or
demonstrate an outstanding publication potential. He or she is able to deal with the subject on levels
of international, European and domestic law and is willing and able to interact with researchers in
A full-time Professorship corresponds to 168 teaching hours a year. A teaching hour is 45 minutes.
Assistant Professors have half of this teaching load.
Professors reside in the Ticino Canton, which is part of the Italian-speaking area of Switzerland.
Presence at the University is of at least four days a week.
Salary and contract
The salary is within a range defined by University regulations. The exact amount will be defined
depending on experience and academic qualifications. A part-time appointment is possible.
