About the role

We are looking for a student to support the Casualty Research & Development department (Casualty R&D). We will need support for 2-2.5 days a week as from January 2017 until end of June 2017.

The main responsibilities of the temporary assignment will be:
- Quality assurance/testing: Support the team in ensuring quality of new modelling and tool features in the area of costing reinsurance deals. Preparation of test sets and scripts, test execution, analysis and logging of results.
- Modelling: Contribute to model parameterization, acting as a sparring partner
- Other tasks in the many areas where the department operates, depending on candidate's background and interests


About the team

Casualty R&D is a unit within the Group Underwriting, managing casualty forward looking strategic initiatives. Casualty R&D aims at an increased casualty risk understanding, market transparency and business quality and profitability. Casualty R&D is at the forefront of quantitative casualty modeling and develops the Liability Risk Drivers model in annual or multiyear projects that address a broad range of topical issues or challenges in casualty risk identification, monitoring, assessment, costing and management, as well as business and portfolio steering.


About You

- Ideally a quantitative background: natural scientist, mathematician or engineer
- Interest in exact and accurate work
- SQL knowledge would be a plus
- Fluency in English is a requirement, German is a plus.
