About the role

In this position, you will pro-actively build and protect Swiss Re's reputation and brand using your professionalism and seniority together with effective external communications, media relations and disclosure communication experience. As a skilled storyteller, writer and editor with a knack for integrated campaigning, you will be able to develop and implement Swiss Re's global media relations activities across social media and traditional media channels. As a spokesperson for the company, you will maintain and grow effective working relationships inside and outside the company to support the company's business objectives through a professional communication approach.

The opportunity
• Writes/edits texts (e.g. by-lined articles, press releases, scripts) positioning Swiss Re's thought leadership topics, business strategy, and equity story
• Serves as senior media spokesperson; possesses and continuously updates and expands an extensive network among media professionals and journalists, demonstrates and maintains effective and efficient customer relationship management
• Works closely with and is responsible for media communication for a specific business unit or topic area and makes sure communication activities are aligned with Swiss Re's strategy and business objectives
• Continuously works on improving the company's media relations and social media efforts via integrated campaigns; supports execution of global communication plans and campaigns
• Advises senior managers within business units or topic areas, develops and implements media strategies and activities to position the units, products, services and executives vis-à-vis the media as a thought leader in re/insurance
• Keeps up to date with emerging media trends on non-traditional and traditional media channels, advises and judges on which channel best one to use to achieve maximum impact.
• Fosters continued best practice application in Media Relations and testing of new communication channels (e.g. social media) to improve effectiveness of Swiss Re messaging in an 'over messaged' worldIs in touch with employees' concerns, mood and sentiment
• Measures success based on appropriate KPIs


About the team

You'll join an energetic and professional media relations team that combines traditional media work with an integrated social media approach, working with media outlets and leading influencers across the globe.


About You

YOU have
• a university degree preferably in communications, marketing or business administration
• more than 7 years of professional experience in media relations/ social media in a global company or 10 years of experience in an agency or as a journalist
• Strong business acumen and judgement, combined with ability to understand complex financial information and turn that into a compelling story
• Solid understanding of different communication channels (including digital and social media), their usage and benefits
• Effective writing and editing skills with the ability to adapt writing style to stakeholder audience and desired outcome
• Excellent English skills, preferably native speaker; additional languages (French) a strong plus
• Strong planning and project management skills
• Sound business focus and judgment
• Effective persuasion and interpersonal influence skills
• Ability to think strategically and switch effortlessly to a hands-on approach when needed
• Capability of delivering solid communication services and materials under tight deadlines
• Experience in the insurance industry would be a plus
• A healthy level of attention to detail
• Stamina and persistence to pursue new ideas
