IKEA Transport organization is approximately 400 persons globally with purchase volume of 1.5 billion Euros, working in the category dimension of Land and Ocean. Each category is responsible to design, develop, plan, purchase, operate and follow up the service execution of transports and services from IKEA suppliers and service providers to IKEA Distribution Centres and Stores; securing the needed transport capacity at the right time, with the right quality, at the right cost and in a sustainable way; to continuously contribute to the goal of having 100% satisfied IKEA customers.
About the job
As a Sourcing Manager Category Ocean you build, lead and develop IKEA Transport and ensure the alignment with the IKEA vision, IKEA business idea and the IKEA culture & values. You are responsible to strengthen our competitive position to secure short-, medium- and long-term growth, and the overall profitability of the IKEA business. As Sourcing Manager Category Ocean you act in the following dimensions:
  • You will develop the Ocean Transport Sourcing Strategy (together with the business development team) in line with the Category Ocean Business Plan and IKEA Supply Chain Strategies to secure both the short term and long term cost, service and capacity.
  • Lead and drive the Ocean Carrier Strategies, Carrier Business and Relationship Management, and Contract Management.
  • You will be responsible for the global purchasing process (tender), tools and methods, market intelligence, trade analysis, network analysis and secure their implementation.
  • Secure effective working relationships with Ocean Operations team, key stakeholder within Transport and other stakeholders within the IKEA supply chain.
  • Coach and Develop co-workers to secure long term competence
  • The assignment includes staff responsibility for a team of direct employees and indirect (matrix) reports across the globe.
About you
To be successful in this role you have experience in working in a leading position and you enjoy leading business and people, both directly and indirectly (in matrix). You have been creating and implementing long-term strategic plans, action plans, setting goals, providing clear direction and following up goals. You have a proven record of consistently meeting agreed goals as well as working on plans over a number of years. You have a commercial and business development background. You have a solid Supply Chain experience and understanding, you are highly competent in the Ocean Transportation. You are capable to develop and lead an organization in a fast changing environment and you know how to enable change. You possess strong communication skills, project management and negotiation skills. You are result oriented, have a lot of energy and the desire to constantly find new ways to develop yourself, your team and the business. You are excellent at building trustful relationships, both internally and externally. You are able to work in both strategic and operational dimension and you have a leading experience from high-volume business environment. You are inspired by the IKEA culture and values.
