About This Job:

This role provides management of the global seed safety programs within the Global Seedcare Institute’s (SCI) Service Category Seed Safety & Product Marketing Support, maximizing the service quality and enabling service value definition and extraction. Furthermore, the incumbent is to ensure best practices sharing and collaboration within the global SCI network.


  • Manage the global seed safety programs & project portfolio, ensuring the study results are delivered in time and with highest quality to our internal and external customers
  • Support product launches and life-cycle management with expertise and data related to seed quality and seed treatment interactions
  • Identify key 3rd party seed technology, seed research, partners, build and maintain necessary network
  • Manage the 3rd party service provider laboratories network, provide necessary guidance and direction to them, ensuring best possible quality of data generated and application of required standards
  • Manage, analyse, process and report seed-safety testing data
  • Ensure best-practice sharing, coordination (standardization) of seed technology & application within the Seedcare Institute’s experts network
  • Leverage know-how across functions and collaborate with other teams within the SCI network and Technology & Engineering to ensure maximum service quality to our internal and external customers
  • Customer complaint management
  • Serve as source of expertise in seed physiology (internal consultant) and interface between customers' needs (internal + external) and seed technology solutions
  • Manage relationship with key institutions (e.g. ISTA, ISSS, AOSA)
  • Training / Education: Deliver content and updates for distinct training modules to global SCI Service Pillar Training to support best & safe use practices of seed treatment technologies. Train and educate internal Syngenta Seedcare staff and customers in cooperation with Global Service Pillar Lead Training



Essential Knowledge & Experience:

  • Multi-year experience with and in-depth understanding of standardized seed quality testing methods and seed vigour testing methods
  • Research experience in the field of seed biology / seed technology
  • Seed analytical experience (lab testing protocols)
  • In-depth knowledge about standardized seed quality testing and seed vigour testing methods
  • In-depth understanding of seed treatment technology and market as a driver of innovation and differentiation
  • Established links with official Seed Science and Testing Societies (ISTA, AOSA, ISSS) and academia
  • Project management experience in cross-functional and cross cultural environment
  • Risk assessments and issue management experience
  • Basics in main Seed treatment market player’s product portfolios
  • Understanding of the connectivity of the seed and crop protection industry

Qualifications and skills:

  • PhD in Seed Science and Technology, ideally with post-doc experience
  • Experience in the use of advanced statistical analytical systems (i.e.  SAS, R)
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal), basic German an advantage
  • Excellent networking, stakeholders management and communication skills
  • Ability to teach and train
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to proactively identify risks and provide solutions
